What inspired you to launch your business?  

My father. He is my mentor, and I grew up watching him help people, which inspired me to follow in his footsteps in the insurance industry and help others with their needs.

How does it make you feel when someone purchases from your business?

It's always satisfying when someone puts their trust in you to protect and advise them.  

Which local business do you like to support?  

I love supporting our local restaurants and coffee shops here in Virden and Girard, IL.  Oak Hills, Doc's Just off Route 66, Sips Coffee, and Jo's place, to name a few.  

What do you deem as success in business?  

There are two times during my career that define success to me.  

1. Handing a check to a grieving widow who doesn't have to worry about paying a mortgage, paying for daycare, food, and college for their kids, or any other unexpected medical expenses. Conversely, this could also be a failure because if there is a death within one of my customers' households and I know I didn't offer them the opportunity to purchase life insurance, then I feel that I failed them. 

2. Being there for my customers and knowing they have the right coverage after a devastating fire/storm loss to their home.  

What is your number one piece of advice for business owners?  

Grow thick skin and learn how you deal with negativity. Read, stay healthy, and exercise. Perseverance is the most excellent quality you can have, and it is constantly being tested.
