Joseph Lelys and Jess Boughton Shift and Lift

What inspired you to launch your business?

We wanted to have a positive impact on other people's lives. We wanted to do something more meaningful than working the same 9 to 5 job day in and day out.

What is your passion?

Inspiring and motivating people to live their best life possible. To help people better themselves physically, mentally, and financially. To watch people grow and develop. To encourage everyone, we meet to do what it takes to reach their goals and make their dreams a reality.

How do you start your day?

Coffee, is there any other way? Also, gym sessions and changing dirty diapers.

Favorite local businesses?

Toasty Subs of Springfield, Encounters off 104 between Pawnee and Auburn, Floral Expressions of Auburn (for the wives).

What do you deem as success in business?

We measure our success in two ways. First, when someone tells us the Shift and Lift mindset had a positive impact on their life. Second, this is currently a part-time job for us. We feel passionate about our brand and desire for it to develop into a full-time, self-sustaining business. Put simply people > profit.

What is your number one piece of advice for business owners?

Patience. Trust yourself and trust the process. Be consistent with your work and allow enough time for development.
