First SBDC Skill Share Event a Resounding Success
We partnered with the Illinois SBDC for Central Illinois and Innovate Springfield to host the Small Business Skill Share during National Small Business Week 2026.
Held on May 7th at Innovate Springfield inside Horace Mann in Downtown Springfield, the free event brought together entrepreneurs, small business owners, and community leaders from across Central Illinois for a morning focused on growth, education, and connection.
The event kicked off with breakfast provided by Small Business Growth Corporation and catered by Café Moxo and was designed to provide attendees with practical, actionable strategies that could be implemented immediately to support business success. Topics included AI tools for small businesses, SBA loan strategies, government contracting opportunities, and managing stress and wellbeing as a business owner.
The morning concluded with a networking lunch sponsored by AlignLife of Springfield Chiropractic & Natural Health Center catered by Bloom Hospitality & Catering giving attendees the opportunity to continue conversations and build valuable local connections.
The Skill Share was a success, with strong attendance and highly positive feedback from participants. Business owners appreciated the fast-paced format, practical advice, and opportunity to connect with fellow entrepreneurs facing similar challenges and opportunities.
We would like to thank the Illinois SBDC for Central Illinois, Innovate Springfield, AlignLife of Springfield Chiropractic, Growth Corp, the speakers, and everyone who attended and contributed to the event.
Due to the enthusiastic response, plans are already underway for another Small Business Skill Share in the future. More information, including dates and details, will be announced soon.
