What inspired you to launch your business?
I love helping individuals and organizations reach their potential. People spend too many hours at work to dislike our job, manager, team, or culture. We offer practical yet personalized HR solutions that help businesses plan for growth and change, acquire new talent, engage their teams for success, develop leaders, and evolve for the future. Having worked at several large global companies, I also love being able to bring "big company" solutions to our local businesses.

What is your passion?
Beyond developing meaningful connections with inspirational business owners and leaders, I'm passionate about healthy cooking and fitness. A healthy mind in a healthy body is the mantra by which I live. Taking care of your health will equip you to take care of anything else that comes your way.

How do you start your day?
First, a quick peek at the calendar to be sure I know what I've allocated time for that day. Then, if it's a school day, my husband and I enjoy breakfast with the kiddos. Finally, most days, I will start with exercise. During COVID, we turned a basement bar area into a home gym. And sometimes, since my husband and I both work for the company, we'll take a long "coffee walk" and strategize about the business and how we serve clients.

Favorite local businesses?
Gosh, there are so many that I adore. I am cheering for so many of our fantastic Illinois business owners. Because I live in Petersburg, which is booming with exciting growth, I'll keep it local and say Hand of Fate Brewery, Broadgauge, 1st and 3rd Boutique and Wine Bar, Proud Souls, West of Wise Winery, Studio on the Square and Yoga with Thelma. Central Illinois is full of unique businesses.

What do you deem as success in business?
Freedom for business owners, and their team, to reach their potential and live a life of their design. It's not a one-size-fits-all model; success as an entrepreneur means creating the life you want.

What is your number one piece of advice for business owners?
You must invest time and energy in the people side of the business. Good managerial practices like training your staff, building trust with them, empowering your team, and providing meaningful performance feedback are essential. When you engage people's hearts and minds, you gain long-term loyalty. It's a quote used many times in different variations but having worked in the hotel industry, JW Marriott said it best: "If you take care of your people, they will take care of your customers, and your business will take care of itself."
