Dr. Renold Bleem -Bleem Family Chiropractic

What inspired you to launch your business?

A back injury on the family dairy farm landed me at the local chiropractor. Once on the mend, I realized how interesting I found the natural healing process was. I excelled at science in school, genuinely enjoyed hands-on work, and am a fixer by nature. After graduating from Logan College of Chiropractic, we arrived in Havana, Illinois, in 1997. My wife and I opened a small office in downtown Havana after there seemed to be a need in the area. This year will be our 26th year on Main Street in Havana.

What is your passion?

After my faith and family, my passion lies in finding solutions to complex healthcare cases. Many patients come to me as a last resort. I have built a practice helping humans that have given up hope. Since adding animal chiropractic in 2019, I can help animals with few natural healthcare options.

How do you start your day?

I am an early riser. One of my favorite things is to get to the office early. The front of our office is a beautiful space with large storefront windows overlooking Main Street, Havana. I open the office up, turn on the lights, and ensure we are ready for the day. I sit in the large windows and watch the day begin on Main Street, USA. This time will include a short devotional or a simple, quiet time. Often, it is the slowest part of my day.

Favorite local businesses?

Our favorite businesses are the mom-and-pop shops. The private, locally owned businesses are where you meet the most genuine people. You receive the best service, and you support a dream and livelihood. My wife and I travel for animal chiropractic on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. You will find us looking for local joints to eat visit. Havana has had an uptick in small businesses. We have raised our kids and business with the long-time businesses in Havana. We are grateful.

What do you deem as success in business?

There is not one answer to this question. I began wanting to provide for my family and to help people. Over time, it became meeting our patients' needs and a positive contribution to our community. After 25 years, I now value striking a balance between all of the above. Our success is measured by the people who call and request my help. I am grateful.

What is your number one piece of advice for business owners?

Again, there are several number-one pieces of advice. Tell the truth. Be fair. Overdeliver when possible. Sincerity goes a long way. Tell your story.
